2010 World Championships Review

Five ex-Bath athletes represented Great Britain at this year's World Rowing Championships: Alongside Ex-Minerva members Helen Glover and Vicky Thornley, Bath Uni Alumni Marcus Bateman, Adam Freeman-Pask and Heather Stanning were also representing the region!

All 5 athletes made their respective finals with Adam 6th in the LM2-, Vicky 4th in the W8+ whilst Marcus (M2x), Heather and Helen (W2-) all came away with excellent Silver medals.

All 5 athletes were developed through GB Rowing Team's 'Start' Programme. The programme is a unique talent identification and development scheme which is funded by UK Sport with Lottery money and since 2006 has been sponsored by Siemens. The programme at Bath has identified 7 athletes for Great Britain teams in the past 7 years including two U23 World Champions and 3 World Silver Medallists. The athletes currently on the programme in Bath train at the University of Bath and at Minerva Bath Rowing Club.
